Open House a Great Success for CNC Machine Tools 14 March 2003
Over 60 delegates from across the UK attended CNC Machine Tools Ltd
February open house, representing a wide spectrum of industrial sectors,
from companies ranging from Sub-contractors to OEM's.
"Although feedback from the delegates further confirmed that market-trading
conditions are likely to continue to remain tough for the foreseeable
future, there was a general optimism that those companies who were prepared
to continue to invest, to develop a competitive advantage, would survive
and prosper. As a result a number of serious enquiries were received
for the new range of EIKON high productivity prismatic machining centres
with pendulum machining capabilities" confirmed Eddie Clapham,
Sales Director.
The open house also resulted in the first UK sale of an EIKON CNC machining
centre to precision engineers Warren Services Limited from Feltwell,
Norfolk.
Warren Services, an existing CNC Machine Tools service & support
customer, needed to invest in a new CNC machining centre as a result
of their growing customer base and the need to increase productivity
and generate a faster throughput of piece parts to reduce costs and
remain competitive.
Warren Services invested in the new EIKON MV3 from CNC Machine Tools
Ltd for three main reasons. Firstly because of the much higher spindle
utilisation possible, compared to conventional CNC alternatives, with
its ability to load & unload during cycle and allow a new job to
be set up whilst the existing programme is still running.
Secondly although the MV3 will do the job of two conventional CNC machines,
it will take up much less valuable floor space and will be significantly
less costly to service and support.
Finally Warren Services confidence to invest is reinforced by their
experience of the top quality service, backup and support services currently
provided by CNC Machine Tools for their existing range of machine tools.
The MV3 offers very high productivity with chip-to-chip time of only
3 secs made possible with spindle speeds of up to 12,000 rpm (32,000
rpm optional), rapid feed rates of 40m/min and tool change times of
only 0.8 sec. With its pendulum machining capability two totally separate
work areas are available in the X/Y/Z axis of 600mm/500mm/400mm enabling
the machine to handle a wide range of components. In single table mode
the work area is 1800mm/500mm/400mm respectively in the X/Y/Z axis.
In addition with available spindle power of 11 kW, heavy metal removal
is also possible for a wide range of materials.
Now is a time of great opportunity for truly customer focused businesses,
